smaller than expected, id only use this for a short period of time of traveling. maybe an hour at most. not much room for a rat to be in, might get antsy. my rat is a female rat shes probably a year old or near that. she isnt too big but i can imagine she wouldnt like to be in this thing for a long time. id put paper towels down in there too in case your animal has to go in there. definitely dont get this for an animal bigger than a rat.
